Years later, Goldman recalled:

I walked into our biggest store, and no one was using the shopping cart I had invented. Housewives complained that it looked too much like a pram, and that they didn't want to repeat their "baby routine" in the supermarket. Goldman, 39, believed that the shopping car would change people's lives, so he turned his attention to influencing public opinion.

One of Goldman's first actions was to advertise in the local newspaper.

Goldman remembered the old trick: seduction! He had a beautiful girl stand in front of the supermarket, and when customers came in, she would give them a shopping trolley, but it still didn't work.

Goldman began to think: users' perceptions of new things are often random and subjective, so why not reinvent them?

Do not always cater to, but learn to "create demand."

So Goldman hired professional actors and actresses to "show" the fake cart users around the store, making pushing the shopping cart less awkward and more popular.

Soon demand for shopping carts surged, and Goldman sold them to other supermarkets for $7 each. To meet demand, he produced shopping carts for sale for two years at a time, and patented his own design.
